The electrification work of the Delhi-Rewari railway track, which commenced on Saturday would be completed in nine months. The foundation stone of the project was laid on Saturday by Union minister of state for planning Rao Inderjit Singh. Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu participated in the event through video conferencing.
Rao Inderjit Singh said that Gurgaon railway station will be developed as a world class facility
Railway officials said the electrification project will completed by L&T, which has been given the contract for the work. The project is part of the Delhi-Ahmedabad rail electrification project, which was sanctioned in 2014. An amount of Rs 593.97 crore would be spent on the electrification of this track.
For the first time, a cylindrical type of foundation for OHE Mast erection is being used in the project. This, offcials said, will reduce the project completion time.
As part of the project, a traction substation would be set up at Garhi Harsaru junction, sectioning and paralleling posts at Patel Nagar and Rewari and sub-sectioning and paralleling posts at Inchhapuri, Tajnagar, Gurgaon, Shahabad Mohammedpur.
The Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Gurgaon section shall have the conventional OHE while the Gurgaon-Rewari line will have the high-rise OHE (7.57m).
The project is proposed to be completed in nine months whereas the normal time for electrification of 80km of railway line generally takes two years.
The foundation stone for the new footover bridge at Gurgaon railway station was laid by MP Rao Inderjit Singh.
This footover bridge is 135 metres long and will provide direct entry to platforms from the main gate side and Rajendra Park side. The total cost of the project is Rs 4.6 crore and the work will be completed within a year.
Rajendra Park is a heavily populated area located beside the Gurgaon railway station.
A large number of pedestrians travelling from Rajendra Park put their lives in danger daily by crossing over the railway tracks for heading towards Sector 5. Although a foot overbridge is located at the railway station, it is restricted to passengers on platform number 2 and is inaccessible to Rajendra Park residents.
