UP Gonda Train Accident Live Updates: Death toll rises to 4, high-level probe underway

On Thursday, eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train derailed near Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in four deaths and 32 injuries. The Railways announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for grievously injured, and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries. Track restoration work is underway, and a special train carrying 600 passengers left for Assam on Friday. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

The Northeast Railway administration released helpline numbers for major stations immediately after the derailment of the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express. The General Manager of Northeast Railway, S. Mathur, Divisional Railway Manager/Lucknow, Aditya Kumar, and other senior railway officers reached the site and reviewed the rescue efforts. Several trains, including the Gonda-Gorakhpur passenger (05094), Gorakhpur-Gonda passenger (05031), and Gorakhpur-Bahraich-Gorakhpur passenger (05131/05132), were canceled. Several other trains were rerouted, with their routes varying from train to train. The routes were changed to avoid the affected section and ensure the safe passage of passengers.

Ye unreserved coaches mein overcrowding ki problem ko resolve karne ka ek bada kadam hai, kyuki pehle ek train mein sirf ek ya do general coaches hote the, jiske karan passengers ko bahut takleef hoti thi. Ab zyadatar trains mein 4 general coaches honge, jisse har train mein 400 passengers ko baithne ki jagah milegi. South East Central Railway zone aur poora Indian Railways is problem ko solve karne ki direction mein kaam kar rahe hain.
