The Chenab Bridge, built over the Chenab River gorge in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, stands taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris at a height of 359 meters. Construction works for the USBRL project are nearing completion with only tunnel No. 1 partially unfinished. A two-day inspection of the 46-km Sangaldan-Reasi section of the USBRL, including the Chenab Bridge, is scheduled for June 27th and 28th by the Railways Safety Commissioner D.C. Deshwal. The inspection is part of the final preparations for the section's commissioning.

The newly commissioned Banihal-Sangaldan section, constructed at a cost of Rs 15,863 crore, features 16 bridges, 11 tunnels, and numerous safety features, including ballastless tracks, canted turnouts, CCTV monitoring, and tunnel safety technology. The Baramulla-Srinagar-Banihal-Sangaldan section of the USBRL project, spanning 185.66 kilometers, is fully electrified and can accommodate Vande Bharat trains.
