The construction of the second tunnel for the underground section of Corridor 1 (IIT to Naubasta) has been completed, connecting Kanpur Central to Transport Nagar. The next phase will involve the construction of tunnels from Shyam Palace Cinema to Kanpur Central. The 'Vidyarthi' TBM machine was launched in December 2023 and has successfully completed the 1250-meter tunnel from Kanpur Central to Nayaganj.
