Aviral Kumar was caught accepting a bribe of ₹8,300, while ASI Manoj Rai was found with ₹10,500 in bribe money. The arrests followed a complaint filed by Akash of Vishal Traders. Earlier, a railway official, Alok Mishra, was also arrested by the CBI for accepting bribes from the same location. The CBI had registered a case against Vinod Kumar on June 12, 2024, for demanding a bribe of ₹2 lakh from Vishal Traders for settling a case. The CBI laid a trap and caught Vinod Kumar red-handed while accepting ₹20,000 from the scrap dealer on June 14. The CBI also registered a case against Aviral Kumar and ASI Manoj Rai on June 13, 2024, for demanding bribes of ₹12,800 and ₹8,200, respectively, for allowing scrap collected from the railway depot to be cut and taken away. They were also caught accepting bribes on June 14. The Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of North Railway Lucknow, Dr. Shreyansh Chinchwade, confirmed the arrests and stated that departmental inquiries have been initiated against the three officials.

CBI ne Vinod Kumar ke khilaf 12 June 2024 ko ek case register kiya tha, kyunki woh Vishal Traders se ek case settle karne ke badle ₹2 lakh ki bribe maang raha tha. CBI ne 14 June ko trap laga kar Vinod Kumar ko ₹20,000 bribe lete hue pakda.
