The mother, Usha Kumari, and her husband, Mohammad Ali, were traveling from Delhi to Darbhanga, seated on coach B-1, seats 55 and 56. When the woman's health deteriorated after leaving Charbagh, her husband informed the railway enquiry number 139. Before the train arrived at Ayodhya, fellow passengers assisted in delivering the baby with the help of SI Kusum Devi. Doctors Sukhvinder and Hemant examined both the mother and the baby and admitted them to the Raja Dashrath Medical College in Ayodhya via ambulance.
