The extension was made at the request of Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who thanked the Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the change.

Dakshina Kannada ke MP Nalin Kumar Kateel ne Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw se train service ko Mangaluru tak extend karne ka request kiya tha. Unhone Union Minister ko train service ko Mangaluru tak extend karne ke liye dhanyavaad diya.
