The train driver applied emergency brakes to stop the train, causing minor damage to the engine's front section. The collision caused panic among the passengers due to the loud noise and sudden jolt. Railway officials arrived at the scene, and after repairs to the damaged engine, the train resumed its journey after a 2.5-hour delay. The JCB operator, Randhir Kumar, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The RPF took possession of the JCB. The incident caused disruption on the other track as well. Senior Railway officials including the DRM Varanasi, Lalji Chaudhary, reached the site. The damaged JCB was removed with the help of a crane, and the track was cleared after repairing the damaged railway track and engine. The train was then allowed to proceed.
