After the incident, the railway track was found to be displaced by about four feet from its original position, with water collected near it, suggesting a weak track. A forensic team collected samples of the railway track, ballast, and soil, and railway officials inspected the track. Initial investigations suggest that a pit and water accumulation near the accident site may have caused the derailment, as the train's weight caused the track to give way.
