The accused were charged under Section 143 of the Railways Act, 1989. In fiscal year 2023-24, the Bhopal Division has taken stringent action against illegal ticket sales and scalping. They have registered 67 cases and arrested 72 individuals, imposing a fine of ₹2,83,000. A total of 8576 tickets worth approximately ₹1,42,15,723 were recovered from these scalpers. The railway administration is carrying out special drives against ticket scalpers, especially during festive seasons, to ensure that tickets are available at regulated prices. Passengers are urged to purchase tickets only through authorized vendors, counters, and online platforms and refrain from buying tickets from unauthorized individuals.
