The fire caused panic at the station, with railway officials notifying higher authorities and the fire brigade. The fire was brought under control after two hours. The station superintendent, Dinesh Thakur, reported that the fire started in the bushes near gate 195C. The Summer Express train was held up for an hour at Odwara, while the Basti railway station held up the Chhapra-Mathura Express for two hours and the Champaran-Satyagraha Express for an hour.

Rail karmchariyon ne aag lagne ki soochna railway ke uchch adhikariyon sahit fire brigade ko di. Do ghante baad aag par kaabu paya gaya. Odwar ke station adhikkshak Dinesh Thakur ne bataya ki station se west gate number 195C ke paas railway line ke kinare dopahar mein jhadion mein aag lag gayi. Aag lagne se dono route ki line ki gaadiyon ko alag-alag stations pe ghanton roka pada. Station adhikkshak ne bataya ki station par Griishmakalin Summer Express train ko ek ghante tak roka pada. Jabki station adhikkshak Basti Naseem Ahmad ne bataya ki Basti railway station pe Chhapra-Mathura Express train ko do ghante aur Champaran-Satyagraha Express train ko ek ghante tak roka gaya.
