METRO SERVICES NORMAL AS OF NOW--------------- MAY BE REGULATED / SUSPENDED IF SITUATION DEMANDS DUE TO CYCLONE "FANI"

Kolkata, 3rd May'19
...

Metro services from Kavi Subhash to Dumdum (both UP and DN) has been running normally according to schedule today (i.e. till 14:00 hrs) and will run 284 services as usual throughout the day. Keeping in view the cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ which is expected to reach Kolkata within this evening and its aftermath, Metro Railway is taking all possible necessary steps for running normal services today.
However, in view of the ground reality, services on the elevated section from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Kavi Subhash and Dumdum to Noapara may be regulated/ suspended if the situation so demands at any point of time today and tomorrow (i.e. 03.05.2019/ 04.05.2019).
🔘 Due to the weather predictions in view of the cyclone "Fani" and expecting lesser number of passengers tomorrow, it has been decided to run 174 services instead of the scheduled 224 services run on Saturdays.....the timings of the first and last service will however remain unchanged.

Remarkable precautionary feat of C & W staff of Indian Railways to save train coaches from the wrath of devastating tropical cyclone 'Fani'. The cyclone has already hit the coastline of Odisha and likely to remain extremely severe for many hours. That's why safety is ensured by fastening all wheels of the parked train coaches and rails with steel chains to avert derailment and rolling down leading to any fatal disaster. Safety is non-negotiable and cannot be compromised . [Pic 1= ECoR , Pic 2 = SER]
