The train is hauled by a Wap-5 #30007 (Bond) locomotive from Ghaziabad shed. This locomotive is manufactured in Switzerland by Asea Brown Boveri Ltd (ABB). The train is very popular amongst tourists for visiting the wonderful Taj Mahal and return on the same day. Also the timings of this train make it flexible for businessmen. Before this, New Delhi Bhopal Shatabdi (later extended to Habibganj) was the fastest train in India with a top speed of 150 km/h. Now Gatimaan express steals the title of the 'Fastest Train' in India. It was a really a memorable and a fun ride for me and my parents. Do comment and let me know your opinion about this train. Now looking forward to see an increase in the speed of this train soon as well as launch of similar trains on other high speed corridors of Indian Railways. The multi million project of Bullet train in India has also been sanctioned and a Mou has been signed with Japan.
In a decade time, we look forward to see a 300 km/h bullet train in India too.
