Analogy is good. But lets take an example. Doubling of YPR - YNK and YNK - CDNR would have cost almost same as that of making UBL station as an Airport. This doubling would enable 1 lakh commuters every day to reach their destinations 20 minutes early. Now tell me which would help people more? I know that those 2 doubling projects are in progress, but they are "In progress" from past 1 year! and they are not going to be completed in 1 more year also. Do we really need 2 years to double a mere 14 kms? What do you think is the reason behind slowing down those projects to the snail's speed? Lack of funds? I bet that's the reason!
