Metro Line 3: Mumbai’s push for public transport, reduced carbon footprint

Mumbai's first underground metro line, part of the 33.5km long Metro Line 3, opened its first phase between Aarey JVLR and BKC on October 5th. This 12.69km stretch, known as the Aqua Line, is India's longest underground metro line and has been lauded for its smooth operation despite significant challenges during...

construction. The line faced difficulties with tunneling in congested areas, passing through heritage zones, crossing the Mithi river, and working beneath existing infrastructure. However, the project was successfully completed using an A-team of Indian and international experts who employed tunnel boring machines and elaborate traffic management strategies. Environmental concerns were also addressed, including obtaining Coastal Regulation Zone clearance, mangrove forest clearance, and managing land acquisition, rehabilitation, and legal disputes. The line features watertight tunnels, well-lit and ventilated spaces, and automatic pumps to handle emergencies, ensuring operation even during Mumbai's monsoon season.

badi difficulties ke baavajood, yeh smooth chal raha hai. Line ko congested areas mein tunneling, heritage zones se guzarne, Mithi river ko cross karne aur existing infrastructure ke neeche kaam karne mein difficulties ka samna karna pada. Lekin, yeh project successful tareeke se pura hua, Indian aur international experts ki ek A-team ne tunnel boring machines aur elaborate traffic management strategies ka use kiya. Environmental concerns ko bhi sambhal gaya, jaise Coastal Regulation Zone clearance, mangrove forest clearance aur land acquisition, rehabilitation aur legal disputes ko manage karna. Line mein watertight tunnels, well-lit aur ventilated spaces aur emergencies ko handle karne ke liye automatic pumps hain, yeh Mumbai ke monsoon season mein bhi smoothly chal raha hai.

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
