many to rely on trains for travel. The decision to convert passenger trains to MEMUs was announced by the Thiruvananthapuram division in 2019. The Kollam MEMU shed, the only one in the Thiruvananthapuram division, is being expanded to handle the increased number of MEMU trains for inspection and maintenance. Railway contracts have been awarded for the shed's expansion. The Olavakkode MEMU yard in the Palakkad division is also undergoing renovation. MEMUs feature traction motors at both ends, eliminating the need for engine changes during return journeys. Their ability to stop and accelerate quickly makes them ideal for the high passenger traffic, similar to Mumbai's suburban train system, albeit on the main line in Kerala.

iska reason hai national highway ka banne ka kaam. Log traffic jams se bachne ke liye train ka istemal kar rahe hain. Passenger trains ko MEMU banane ka faisla Thiruvananthapuram division ne 2019 mein hi announce kiya tha. Thiruvananthapuram division ka ek alag MEMU shed, Kollam mein, badhaaya ja raha hai, jisse MEMU trains ki jaanch aur maintenance ki ja sake. Is shed ko badhaane ka contract railway ko mil gaya hai. Palakkad division ke Olavakkode MEMU yard mein bhi renovation ka kaam chal raha hai. MEMUs mein dono taraf traction motors hote hain, is wajah se return journey mein engine change karne ki zaroorat nahi padti. Unki jaldi se rukne aur tez chalne ki ability unhe Kerala mein zyada rush wali main line ke liye perfect banati hai. Ye Mumbai ki suburban train system ki tarah hai.
