e-Office shutdown derails administrative works in Indian Railways

Indian Railways experienced a disruption in its administrative work for a week due to a crash in the National Informatics Centre's (NIC's) e-Office system, which is used for file management and communication. The system, managed by RailTel, is operational in over 236 railway establishments and has 1.47 lakh users. While the...

outage impacted routine administrative work, passenger and freight train operations were unaffected due to separate IT infrastructure. Emergency files were handled manually during the downtime. Railtel restored the system on Friday. The cause of the crash and security of backup data are unclear, but messages were sent to senior officials about the ongoing infrastructure issue and dependence on storage utilization for restoration. Besides Railways, the e-Office system also serves other government organisations like EPFO, IRCTC, and RVNL.

operations par koi asar nahi pada kyunki Railways ke paas alag IT infrastructure hai. Emergency files ko is downtime ke dauraan manually handle kiya gaya. RailTel ne Friday ko system ko restore kar diya. Crash ka karan aur backup data ki security saaf nahi hai, lekin senior officials ko message bheje gaye the ki infrastructure issue chal raha hai aur restoration storage utilization par depend karta hai. Railways ke alawa, e-Office system EPFO, IRCTC, aur RVNL jaise aur government organisations ko bhi services provide karta hai.

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
