The Kazipet-Vijayawada third line project, approved in 2012-13, saw significant progress due to the allocation of Rs. 647 crore in the last two years. The 219 km line, with a total estimated cost of Rs. 1,952 crore, has reached 100 km completion. The Kazipet-Ballarshah third line, vital for connecting North and South India, is crucial for handling the daily traffic of 275 passenger trains and 180 freight trains. With an estimated cost of Rs. 2,063 crore, work has been completed between various stations, totaling 151 km. The project received Rs. 450 crore in the previous budget and Rs. 300 crore in the last interim budget.
