Kindly provide your opinions and flag on this Time Table, an attempt to modify the time table of cholan superfast, which serves as a day express in mainline. What is the use when the direct option is not in the initial preference? That doesn't mean they are not travelling in cholan, and cholan having excellent foot fall for Thanjavur, timings wise it is not at all convenient currently (atleast timings wise now 22675 Cholan Superfast seems lot better for Chennai - Thanjavur, though departure can still be preponed by 15 - 30 mts)

For Thanjavur, this is the only direct intercity kind of day train to chennai. Even though it got speeded up and became superfast express, timings wise for Thanjavur, entire day gets wasted if one takes this train, making people to go for other options like Tejas from Trichy (much faster since Trichy is just 1 hr from Thanjavur and there are many connection trains) and Vaigai/pallavan/guruvayur express from Ariyalur (Ariyalur railway station is just 40 kms from Thanjavur by road and for connecting pallavan express, 2 buses from Thanjavur old bus stand directly goes to Ariyalur railway station, even byepassing Ariyalur bus stand.).

This time table is modified in such a way that it serves as an intercity express in true sense for people of Thanjavur as well, in such a way that one can board this train after having lunch and get down at night in chennai, instead of wasting the late part of forenoon at Thanjavur. Currently the timings are kind of acceptable for Kumbakonam and beyond and not for Thanjavur. One hour postponement of the departure from Tiruchirapalli, behind Janshatabdi would serve very much useful for people of Thanjavur as well.

Based on an assumption that it will get rake with CC 2S composition, posting this CC.
please wait...Translate to EnglishYo, lemme know what you think about this Time Table tweak for the Cholan Superfast train, which usually runs during the day on the mainline. What's the point if the direct option ain't your first choice? Just 'cause peeps ain't taking the direct train doesn't mean they ain't ridin' on the Cholan. Lotsa folks hop on and off in Thanjavur, but the current timings ain't that convenient (22675 Cholan Superfast seems way better for going Chennai - Thanjavur, although it could leave a bit earlier by like 15-30 mins). This Time Table was put together so that both Cholan Superfast trains don't cross paths in Thanjavur, avoidin' any issues on the single line track. For Thanjavur, this train is the only direct day express to Chennai. Even though it got faster and became a superfast express, the timings ain't great for Thanjavur. A whole day goes to waste if you take this train, so peeps look for other options like the Tejas in Trichy (way faster 'cause Trichy is just 1 hour away from Thanjavur with lotsa connecting trains) or the Vaigai/Pallavan/Guruvayur express from Ariyalur (Ariyalur station is just 40 kms away from Thanjavur by road and there are 2 buses from Thanjavur that go directly to Ariyalur station, skippin' the Ariyalur bus stand). The updated Time Table is meant to be a true intercity express for the folks in Thanjavur, so you can hop on this train after lunch and arrive in Chennai at night, instead of wastin' the whole morning in Thanjavur. Right now, the timings are okay for Kumbakonam and beyond, but not for Thanjavur. If the departure from Tiruchirapalli could be delayed by an hour after the Janshatabdi, it would be super helpful for the peeps in Thanjavur. Assuming it'll have CC and 2S coaches, that's what's up.
