The renovation includes separate foot overbridges for arrivals and departures, a 108-meter-wide area with passenger amenities and retail options, and a two-storey departure and arrival plaza on the west side with basement and surface parking. The eastern side will feature a 5-storey arrival building (currently at the 3rd floor), a 2-storey departure building (construction at the 2nd floor), and a temporary booking counter. On the west side, a 7-storey railway administration building is under construction, with its foundation completed. The work on the basement is being carried out in phases to minimize disruption, with 50% completed and the remaining work to begin by August 2024. The project's estimated cost is ₹487.77 crore, with work starting last year. Completed tasks include soil testing, site lab setup, batching plant installation, utility shifting in the east, new entry/exit for milk siding, parking area, and traffic changes, and the installation of a wheel washing unit.
