The gang members, four from Jharkhand and one from Gorakhpur, sold the stolen phones in Bengal and Jharkhand. The SP Railway, Dr. Avadhesh Singh, explained that the gang had previously been arrested for the same crime five months ago but resumed their activities after being released from prison. They used a local auto driver to navigate the city and targeted people in crowded marketplaces.
