Hopes soar high as double engine govts take charge

The proposed Gunupur-Therubali rail route project in Odisha, which has been stalled for years due to disagreements between the Centre and the state regarding funding, has renewed hope for completion with the formation of BJP governments at both levels. Aswini Vaishnaw, the Union Railway Minister from Odisha, is familiar with...

the project, and Prime Minister Modi's 100-day deadline for pending projects adds further momentum. The project was initially proposed in the 2017-18 Railway Budget with an estimated cost of Rs 935.72 crore and a length of 73.62 km. The Centre had included the route in PM Gati Shakti Yojana, but its implementation has been delayed due to funding issues. The current estimated cost has risen to Rs 1,398 crore. Despite the delay, small amounts of funds have been allocated annually, leaving the project's future uncertain. The project is expected to bring development to the tribal-dominated district of Rayagada, connecting it to Berhampur and other areas. The railway line is also expected to be profitable once operational.

Odisha mein Gunupur-Therubali rail route project, jo saal se pendinge tha, uske liye ab hope jaag gaya hai. Centre aur state mein BJP government bane hai, aur Union Railway Minister Aswini Vaishnaw, jo Odisha se hai, ye project se aware hain. PM Modi ne ministers ko 100 din mein pending projects...

complete karne ka deadline diya hai, jisse is project ke liye bhi momentum aaya hai. Ye project 2017-18 budget mein Rs 935.72 crore aur 73.62 km length ke saath propose kiya gaya tha. Centre ne PM Gati Shakti Yojana mein is route ko include kiya tha, lekin funding issue se project delay ho gaya. Ab iski estimated cost Rs 1,398 crore tak jaa chuki hai. Funding issue ke baad bhi, har saal thode thode paise allocate kiye ja rahe hain, lekin project ka bhavishya uncertain hai. Ye project Rayagada ke tribal-dominated district ko develop karne mein madad karega, aur use Berhampur aur dusre area se connect karega. Jab ye project ban jaayega, toh Railway ko isse profit bhi hoga.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
