Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) is exploring the use of LighTram metros in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Kochi, as a more affordable and sustainable alternative to traditional metro systems. LighTram is a type of light rail system that can operate at road level, elevated, and underground, offering flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The decision...

to consider LighTram follows concerns about the financial burden and logistical challenges associated with conventional metro projects in Kerala. The state is facing a financial crunch, making LighTram a more viable option. Studies on the feasibility of LighTram in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode are being conducted by the Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd (UMTC). KMRL is also exploring LighTram for connecting specific areas in Kochi where conventional metro isn't feasible. The potential benefits of LighTram include reduced construction costs, accessibility for differently abled individuals, and a more efficient use of space compared to traditional metros. However, some experts, including Metroman E Sreedharan, have expressed concerns about the practicality of operating LighTrams on narrow Kerala roads, citing potential traffic congestion and higher operating costs.

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) ne Thiruvananthapuram aur Kozhikode mein traditional metro project se alag raaste par jaane ka faisla kiya hai, kyuki yeh bahut expensive hai aur usme bahut logistical challenges aati hai. LighTram Metro ek mass transport system hai, jaise ki normal metro, lekin yeh kam paise mein aur...

aasaan tareeke se banta hai. KMRL ke MD Loknath Behera ne kaha hai ki Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd (UMTC) dono cities mein already proposed metro routes par feasibility study karega. Australia mein Brisbane jaise cities ne LighTram metros ko chuna hai, kyuki yeh sustainable aur cost-effective hai, aur yeh road level, elevated, aur underground, sab jagah chal sakta hai. Kerala mein, jahan paisa kam hai, LighTram bahut achcha option hai, kyuki yeh aane wali generation par zyada bojh nahin dalega. Kochi mein bhi, KMRL LighTram Metro banane ki planing kar raha hai, jahan normal metro nahin ban sakta. HESS Green Mobility, ek Swiss company jo Brisbane aur duniya ke aur bhi jagah pe LighTram service chalati hai, ne MG Road-Thevara-Marine Drive loop par feasibility report submit kiya hai. Mattancherry, Fort Kochi aur Edapally-Aroor mein elevated bypass par bhi jaldi hi study shuru ho jayegi. Transport expert Adarsh Kumar ne Kochi mein LighTram Metro ke idea ka swagat kiya hai, unhone kaha hai ki city roads ki capacity puri ho chuki hai. LighTram se passengers ko platform tak pahunchne ke liye 3-4 minutes stairs chadhne ki zarurat nahin padegi, unko road se hi LighTram mein sawar ho sakte hai. Lekin Metroman E Sreedharan ne disagree kiya hai. Unhone kaha hai ki LighTram Kerala ki sadkon par practical nahin hai, kyuki yeh bahut narrow hain, aur LighTram se road space kam ho jaayega.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
