However, the 170 km Malani-Nanpara line, traversing the Dudhwa National Park, will remain meter-gauge due to its significance for tourism. The NER has received 310 crore rupees for doubling the Gorakhpur-Valmiki Nagar route, aimed at improving connectivity with Bihar and Nepal. The budget also includes 18 crore rupees for the construction of the third line between Domingarh-Kusmhi and Gorakhpur-Nakaha Jungle.
