I agree that this is complete waste of fuel & cost but this is happening because of wrong planning from Railway board it self. they could have electrified section in phase wise manner considering long fleet of diesel locomotives and their utilizations.
First they started 100% electrification targets and later scrapped AlCo's which were in service[some of them overaged and must be scrapped] & some of them gifted to Bangladesh. Recently built and mainline fit WDM3D's are getting scrapped and being utilized in departmental use. This is complete waste of huge funds...
more... which were used in production of locomotives.
They still repeating same mistake by electrifying few routes where hardly 5 trains run per day including Freight & Passengers. instead of doubling the sections and speeding up trains they all are just busy in electrification.
Coming to Central railways, I never seen such hopeless zone, they don't even plan and act. Home zone trains are running on BSL/WAG5 and AQ/KYN/WAG9 links and their WAP7 fleet on Bharat Bhraman Tour. There is huge shortage of passenger locomotives mainly WAP7 but they are just sitting and passing days.
Looking at all this complete planning failure Its better to run short distance trains on Diesel traction for proper utilization of Diesel fleet instead forcefully scrapping the running and M/L fit locomotives.
please wait...Translate to EnglishYeah, I totally agree man. It's such a waste of fuel and money, but this crap is happening all because the Railway board screwed up their planning. They should have electrified the sections step by step, you know, considering the large number of diesel trains and how they're used. First, they set this goal of 100% electrification, and then they go and scrap those AlCo locomotives that were still in service (granted, some of them were past their prime and needed to be scrapped) and even gave some away to Bangladesh. And now they're scrapping those new and well-maintained WDM3D locomotives too, when they could have been used for other stuff. What a complete waste of money that was spent on manufacturing these locomotives.
And get this, they're still making the same damn mistake by electrifying some routes where only a few trains run each day, including freight and passenger trains. Instead of doubling the sections and making the trains faster, they're just busy electrifying everything.
Now, let me tell you about Central Railways. Man, that zone is just hopeless. They don't even plan or take any action. They're still running trains with those outdated BSL/WAG5 and AQ/KYN/WAG9 locomotives, while their fancy WAP7 fleet is just being used for some fancy Bharat Bhraman Tour. We're facing a massive shortage of passenger locomotives, especially WAP7, but they're just sitting on their asses, doing nothing.
With all this messed up planning, it would be way better to run short distance trains with diesel traction. At least that way, we could properly utilize our diesel fleet instead of forcefully scrapping the running locomotives that are still in good condition.
