After seeing the horrific scenes from the accident spot, following points come to mind, so want to share here:
1. Freight traffic be regulated up to a capping for each section so that there remains free maintenance period for overhaul of tracks, switch overs, signaling and other control related systems.
2. Unrealistic target of 75 VBs a year is putting undue pressure on technical officers and crew and is playing somewhere in their mind. It should be done away with. Routine safety and maintenance of regular M/E/other non premium trains automatically takes...
more... back seat when each month you see PM flagging of a new VB. First preference should be given to lhbfication of all long distance M/E/SF trains.
3. Instead of addition of new slots for VBs, first the Shatabdi's already plying should be allotted VB rake. This would also avoid undue competition for patronage between VB/double decker/JS trains running on near about time slots in those sections .
4. Rake standardization should be implemented carefully on case to case basis for each section and time slot considering the specific issues faced by passengers in that route, instead of going all out everywhere blatantly. This would reduce hardships of passengers to some extent and excess load on regular legendary trains occupying prime time slot, to some extent
Further more suggestions are welcome for open discussion
