Presenting some pictures of probably the most under-rated NSG 2 railway station of ER, and probably amongst the most over-looked in IR! I had gone to my aunt's house and spent some time at and around Naihati Junction. Naihati is probably the most important railway junction on the Sealdah-Krishnanagar City Main line. A 3 point junction Naihati has railways lines branching off to Bandel Jn on the HWH-BWN Main line, Ranaghat and Krishnanagar (further lines diverge from Ranaghat, Kalinarayanpur and Krishnanagar respectively).
There is a newly built Naihati bypass line to allow seamless access to Ranaghat from Bandel side without undergoing any rake reversals at Naihati.
Naihati...
more... is also an important sub-urban terminal and passing station on the Sealdah-Ranaghat line. Local trains orginate from NH to BDC ( Amongst the shortest countrywide), NH to SDAH and several other stations on the Sealdah South and on the Calcutta Circular Route. Naihati is also the gateway to Hoogly district via the Hoogly river too.
