Madurai: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), which has taken up the doubling and electrification work of the Madurai-Tuticorin (through Vanchi Maniyachi) and Vanchi Maniyachi-Nagercoil sections, said that the first phase of 44 km is likely to be completed before the end of 2019. Construction of 205 minor bridges and 17 station buildings on the Madurai-Tuticorin and 325 minor bridges and 12 station buildings on the Vanchi Maniyachi-Nagercoil stretch are among the other major construction works to be carried out as part of the project. As many as five new stations are included on the Madurai-Tuticorin stretch at Nalli, Kadambur, Thattaparai, Vanchi Maniyachi and Tuti Melur.
