I have personally inspected few coaches. We had been trying to curve out a solution where we can get new coaches for the train. A LHB rake which was sanctioned will replace the original 12827/28 service.
The striking point is rake sharing. During the time of sanction, there was no RSA so SRC was supposed to get primary authority of the said rake. Now it is being handled by Hatia co-persons. Pantry services in Purulia Express is in our plans, which will be our 2nd intercity express train to have. Regular meetings with IRCTC under ADRA and KGP is going on. Once finalized, passengers will receive fresh food onboard. This is will generate employment for many.
Another resisting point is complaints in new LHB general coaches of Steel Express. This time ADRM was on inspection. He didn't find much out of order other than extra congestion being faced by everyone. Seats are comfortable. But he said,"If you want to go to toilet, keep 20 mins in hand". Pantry staffs are too finding difficulties. Talking about extension, we don't find extension of Steel Express feasible as of now. I discussed with DRM CKP and our views were very similar.
