The railway board in principle has agreed to doubling and electrification of Mumbai Chennai route long back. Till date still 250 kms is on single track between Bhigwan and Pakni sections and Hotgi and Gulbarga on the other section.

The total cost of remaining work of doubling and Electrification on Mum-Chennai and Mum-Hyd is about Rs 1250 Cr.

Last Year Rs 1 Lakh was sanctioned for the project.

As per railways own admission to complete ALL pending projects on hand they need an investment of atleast 1 lac crores
