On The eventful day of 8th June 2015; the entire Mumbai CR line was changed from DC current to AC current. This was once in a lifetime and a historic event which was never to be missed. Myself and Few other RFs had gathered at Thane station and kept reporting the status, sightings through out the night so as to keep all interested people updated with the Event.
The block was finally taken at about Midnight and after a long six hours the CR mainline had successfully undergone the transition from DC to AC. However, it wasn't done yet, Officials have to test whether the run for EMUs is as per expectations or not!

more... 15 car AC EMU was bought into TNA PF6, by Kurla WDM3A 16367R, it was duly uncoupled and sent on its way to its host shed. The EMU was decorated from the start! The guard, Motormen took their positions awaiting further instructions. There were lot of officials (understandably so) present at the event, keenly monitoring the proceedings & also managing the oncoming traffic in the form of long distance trains entering TNA stn with Diesel links of Various sheds.
Finally, All the 4 lines (which composes CR mainline) from Thane to CST were charged with AC current and we were ready to go.
The motormen didn't waste anytime and soon accelerated out of the PF towards its destination.
This was both nostalgic and exciting moment if there was one.
We grew up travelling in EMUs under DC traction going to our schools, colleges,Offices; hence the nostalgia & Excitement because the newer EMUs would offer more robust, more better, more faster services somewhat improving the ever demanding needs to suburban railway transport in Mumbai.
