It is better SR Salem division start new trains from Coimbatore to various destinations like Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, etc., instead of depending on Kerala originating trains.
If you analyse carefully, no good train to these places. To avoid, what is done is whichever train available at nearby points are dragged towards Erode, Coimbatore. When Salem Karur line was not there, MV MYS, TN MYS, DR NCJ, CSTM NCJ etc used to go via Erode. Now, shorter route available, but not used. Even when shorter route is selected, TT is not changed/ stoppage not given to places in shorter route, leading to such trains blocking platforms and lines elsewhere.

MAS PGT was initially MAS PLNI and extended to POY and ended up in PGT. Basically, this was meant to connect Namakkal to Chennai, but see the timings and quota for Namakkal!
CSTM NCJ via Namakkal takes more running time than many other trains via Erode (with loco reversal), but has no stop at Namakkal!!. Irony.
