Express will be reduced, and the number of sleeper and general coaches will be increased. These changes will come into effect on August 11, 2024 for the Ganga Satluj Express departing from Dhanbad and on August 13, 2024 for the Ganga Satluj Express departing from Firozpur. The Ganga Damodar Express and Patna-Dumka-Patna Express will also have changes in their coach compositions starting August 15th and 16th, respectively. The number of sleeper coaches on the Ganga Damodar Express will be reduced from eight to six, and the number of general coaches will be increased. The number of sleeper coaches on the Patna-Dumka-Patna Express will be increased from three to five. There will be no changes to the AC coaches on either train.

The train was initially planned to be extended to Tata, but after opposition from the MP, it was decided to run a new train between Patna and Dumka using the Ganga-Damodar Express rakes.
