This train should ideally have gone upto LJN though I doubt that'll ever happen due to platform constraints at LJN, time constraint for this train[has 1 hour TAT time and taking it to LJN will squeeze that furthur] plus IR terminates it at GTNR to artificially reduce time on paper[just like how DEC-JP VB is run from Delhi Cantt instead of DLI or NDLS].

They can, but if they are gonna take it upto LKO, might as well run it via a faster route via SLN. This VB is still not the fastest train b/w Lucknow and Varanasi despite charging a hefty premium due to the longish AY route.
A very strong and valid point. IR should manage the slack and run it upto LJN. Although IR has invested hugely on GTNR but still lay man public who aren’t so frequent travellers in Lucknow are unaware that trains run from GTNR. Either extend VB to LJN or make GTNR more popular by short terminating east bound popular trains at GTNR which presently run upto LJN/LKO. GTNR must also be looked above zonal warfare. It must cater NR/LKO trains as well. Idea must be to popularize GTNR by giving heavyweights at GTNR rather than giving halts to Awadh, Barauni Express and starting trains to Chappra. Very few people know about Kamakhya/Godda-GomtiNagar Express. Poor Management from NER. Sheer Wastage.
The trouble being Ayodhya has good no. of bookings and purpose of this train is to connect Patna and Ayodhya
If we remove HJP, then the next proper connectivity is the tri weekly PNBE-KOTA Express. Considering ticket availability is tougher in that train due to it being slightly longer distance plus the fact that it takes 3+ hours extra, it's no surprise that an 8 coacher VB gets filled easily combined from Lucknow and Ayodhya.

If this train was running from proper terminal LJN, it would have been 30 minutes more. It is just like the case with Delhi-Jaipur VB where instead of starting from DLI/NDLS, they started from Delhi Cantt to artificially save time on paper despite the latter having no metro connectivity even near to it.
Same with GTNR, no metro connectivity as of now; neither planned in Phase 2 [meanwhile, Lucknow City rail station is getting one]. Going to that station via public transport is another pain since the main road terminates ~1km before...

Sir, even from gomtinagar...vb to BSB is taking 1 hr more than the normal SF intercity due to longer route.

Well, people even book AY to ALD in VB despite the VB being technically slower than the passenger running on the same route[ and other variants like Saryu Express, Manwar Sangam being much faster as well ].
