Are the Vistadome coaches of this train airconditioned? Also, did you have to reach MLN one day earlier in order to catch this train early morning?
Yes they were air-conditioned but now it is detached and not operational from last 1 year.
And regarding connectivity you need to reach 1 day earlier if you are planning to travel from Mailani to Nanpara. This is a remote area and no accommodation facilities available there so plan accordingly.

If you are planning to travel in MG trains,
Board any train from LJN/DAL to GK, take a room at Gola Gokarannath.
Then take a bus to Mailani in the morning which is 1hr journey and then board 05362 from Mailani at 8:50AM

Is Gola Gokaranath a bigger place than MLN? I thought Mailani was a bigger station?
It is far bigger with almost all facilities in the city, check Wikipedia page of Gola Gokarannath .

Whilst the first route is quite easily accessible now from LJN, the second has been woefully neglected by IR. I traveled on a small stretch of it once and the mps was quite low. IR needs to upgrade that stretch and run more trains via it.
The third stretch sadly, is the toughest to access now considering that it ends at Nanpara only instead of Bahraich after GC. Due to Dudwa National park, it won't be converted into BG, but one probably needs to spend a night a MLN to access an...

That's really the issue with Mailani Nanpara MG route.
As a railfan, I to want to travel on this route but due to its odd timing, I can't 😕.
There should be atleast a single train which leaves on mid-day from Mailani.

They should run this tourist special at late morning. It can still go to Bichia and return just in time for a pax to catch either the last passenger or MLN-GKP Express.

A memorable ride, on one of the very few Meter Gauge Vistadome coach, everything is a breeze in the face except the awkward timings of this train.

Instead of going to MLN prior, take any train in midnight till GD from LKO and board 05371 from GD to BRK.
MLN is a remote area and do not have any hotels where you can stay.

Yes, I had explored this option before and thought it is the best thing to do. Gonda also has retiring rooms, I think, as well. Mailani is desolate at night.
Yes reach Gonda in evening time, book a room and take rest.
