All the stranded passengers arriving by the special train were received & provided further transportation as per need at Kamakhya and Guwahati stations. Water, food etc were given for their onward journey.

But other accidents have also been caused due to negligence of Railway staff too like Seemanchal Express one few years ago.
Anyways let's wait for the official report.
There are also cases where sufficient blocks are not given for maintenance activity, inspection not carried out, etc.. all these are there in the CAG report along with a few solutions.

fatal accidents in a 6 month gap along with many non fatal derailments of freight trains do raise a serious concern about rail travel now.
Clearly safety of people and goods does not appear to a top priority for IR now.
