No. 16345) was scheduled to leave Udupi at 3 a.m. and the Panchaganga Express (Train No. 16595) was scheduled to pass through the same stretch at 4 a.m. Officials swiftly initiated track restoration, completing it by 5:58 a.m. with a speed restriction of 20 kmph. Mr. Shetty was commended for his alertness and awarded a ₹25,000 cash prize. The Netravathi Express was stopped just before Padubidri at 3:55 a.m. and brought back to Innanje, while the Panchaganga Express was detained at Nandikur Station. Train traffic was restored after the track was declared safe.
