Initially, three pairs of trains will run between Pilibhit-Mailani and one pair between Pilibhit-Lucknow. The route of the existing train running between Lucknow and Shahgarh via Mailani will be extended to Pilibhit. A Gorakhpur-Mailani train will also be extended to Pilibhit, and the special train running from Howrah to Lalkuan via Gorakhpur is planned to be made regular. The line will connect Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, and other cities in North India.
