It was developed by RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation) in collaboration with three vendors in the country. It is a state-of-the-art electronic system that meets safety integrity level-4 standards. The system will be implemented in five phases, starting with the laying of fiber optic cable. It will be fully operational by December 2030. The Kavach system is expected to enhance safety by automatically applying brakes, reducing speed, and warning the loco pilot in case of any abnormalities.
