It forms part of the Mumbai-Howrah railway route, connecting two major metropolitan cities. The Kalamna station is undergoing yard modification. This station serves as a crucial link between Nagpur, Itwari, Godhani, Kamthi, and two significant power plants. The project employs approximately 50 engineers and 400 workers from various railway departments. The railway administration asserts that these expansions will enhance the capacity of the Kalamna-Rajnandgaon rail section, easing current traffic congestion.
