Some suburban trains will be cancelled or short-terminated. For instance, Train No. 94078 Virar-Andheri Fast local departing from Virar at 10:44 pm on October 5 will short terminate at Borivali. All 5th-line Mail/Express trains will run on the Down Fast line from Andheri to Borivali. The Western Railway will also introduce a new suburban timetable effective from October 12, 2024, with 12 new services, 6 extended services, and 10 services being augmented to 15-car trains, increasing the total number of services on the Mumbai suburban section from 1394 to 1406.

This is welcome news. Specially the extension of CCG- BSR AC EME till VR which runs during peak hours. Similarly conversion of 12 coach trains to 15 will bring big respite to commuters. However the WR should focus on improving punctuality of trains during peak hours. All the services are late by minimum 10 min. by the time they reach destination. Semi fast locals to and from BVI / Goregaon are creating bottlenecks during peak hours. These should be either converted to Slow services or should be extended upto VR with no halts between BVI and ADH

Similarly, the speed restriction on UP & DOWN Slow lines will be removed by Friday morning, October 4th, 2024, normalizing suburban services. The 6th line construction will be completed by this weekend, with the last major block scheduled for that period. During the night of October 1st/2nd, a 4-hour block will be imposed on UP & DOWN Fast lines between 00:30 hrs and 04:30 hrs, and a 1.5-hour block will be imposed on all lines between 02:00 hrs and 03:30 hrs at Goregaon. During this block, Fast line local trains will run on the Slow line between Borivali & Andheri from 00:30 hrs to 04:30 hrs, and Mail/Express trains will be delayed by 10-20 minutes. Some suburban trains will be cancelled/short terminated during this block period. Details are available with the Station Masters. Passengers are advised to check for updates.
