by the arrest of Anshuman and Sumitra in Dhanbad and Ranchi, respectively. The South Eastern Zone Vigilance Team uncovered the scam on April 16th at Birbans Station, leading to the arrests of three youths and an agent. The three youths were released after recording their statements, while the agent, David, was released on bail. The Railway Police are pursuing the remaining suspects, including Arun and Shantanu from Kolkata. Statements from the victims will be recorded in court, and warrants for the arrests of the accused will be issued.

Chennai involved in the scam. The scam involved promising jobs as booking clerks to three individuals, Dhivin Kumar, Rupam Shah, and Shubhashish Mandal, and charging them 21 lakhs. The victims received training at Gamharia station but were later misled. The scam was exposed on April 16 when the South Eastern Railway zone's vigilance team conducted a raid at Birbans station. Meanwhile, Railway SP Praveen Puskar stated that six accused have been identified from Kolhan, West Bengal, Odisha, Chennai, and other regions in the fake booking clerk job scam. The Railway Police is conducting raids to apprehend them. Additionally, the call details of the accused are being extracted. According to the Railway SP, Dhavin Kumar from Tamil Nadu and Rupam Shah and Subhasish Mandal from Nadia, West Bengal, who defrauded 21 lakhs by promising jobs, will soon be in GRP custody. Three young men who were victims of the scam testified in court, describing how they fell prey to Anshuman's scheme and paid Rs. 21 lakh. The railway SP revealed that the investigation has uncovered crucial information about the scam and is seeking information from the former ticket agent of Gamharia railway station in Chakradharpur division. ordered the arrest of these two individuals, based on the victims' statements, by the GRP Daroga Rafi Alam. Meanwhile, the railway police are investigating the involvement of a woman from Chennai and other accused individuals. The victims stated they paid Anshuman for the job but never met him. Anshuman is believed to be the mastermind of the fake job racket, while others acted as agents. According to the SP, this scam, involving training and defrauding youth in the name of jobs, has been ongoing since November 2023 in the Chakradharpur division. For a month, youth were given training in January for the role of booking clerks at Gamharia station, after which they were sent home due to the termination of the ticket agent's contract. They were subsequently called back for training for ticket sales at Birbans station from March onwards. However, the South East Zone Vigilance team exposed the scam on Tuesday and apprehended three victims and one accused. The three victims, Dhivin Kumar from Tamil Nadu, and Rupam Shah and Shubhasish Mandal from Nadia, West Bengal, will be sent home after recording their statements in court, to assist with the investigation. Their families are also cooperating with the investigation. The police are not pursuing charges against the victims, as they were victims of the job scam.
