Southern Railway. This information is based on the passenger revenue figures for 2023-2024 released by Indian Railways. The top eight stations in Kerala are also seeing an increase in revenue, with Thiruvananthapuram leading with 281.12 crore rupees. Thane (Mumbai) boasts the highest number of passengers with 93.06 crore, followed by Mumbai Kalyan at 83.79 crore and New Delhi at 39.36 crore. Thiruvananthapuram recorded 1.31 crore passengers. India has 28 stations in the highest group, Non-Suburban Group-1 (NSG-1), considering both passenger numbers and revenue. Central Railway, including Mumbai, has the most stations in this group with eight, followed by Southern Railway with three (Chennai, Egmore, and Tambaram). There are no Kerala stations in this group. Six stations that were in NSG-2 in 2017-2018 have now moved up to NSG-1.

These diversions have caused inconvenience for hundreds of passengers traveling to and from the affected stations. Additionally, due to line block in Adra, the Tatanagar-Hatia Express will run via Chandil, Muri, and Gunda Bihar stations instead of Purulia on August 7th and 10th. The Dhanbad railway division has proposed this to the East Central Railway headquarters in Hajipur, and while there were attempts last year, the request was denied. This year, with the demand rising due to the closure of six special trains operating during summer vacation, the railway division is pushing for the clone train to ease the burden on the regular train, which is also crucial for medical travel, especially for patients going to CMC Vellore.
