It is considered the most backward area in the district as it is still deprived of road and rail connectivity. The lack of a direct road connection increases the travel time from Aurahi to Muzaffarpur to 55 km, while a direct road would reduce it to 28 km. The land acquired for these projects has been largely unused, with the area inside the embankment becoming a breeding ground for wild animals. Around 20,000 people were displaced due to the embankment construction, and about 12,000 still face risks by commuting to their old homes. Many residents have migrated to other districts. Local politicians have been accused of neglecting the development of the area. The proposed Bhabhnagama-Atarar bridge project has been stalled after only the land measurement. Despite promises from elected representatives, the situation remains unchanged. The MLA, Ramsurat Rai, claims efforts are ongoing for road and rail connectivity, while the MP, Ajay Nishad, advocates for rail connectivity and says efforts are ongoing to address the problems faced by the people.
