Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme or the Tatkal booking option to increase their chances of securing a confirmed ticket. The Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme allows passengers to choose up to 7 alternate trains while booking. If their initial choice is not confirmed, the system automatically assigns them a seat on one of the alternate trains if available. While it does not guarantee a confirmed seat, it significantly increases the odds. The Tatkal booking option opens 24 hours before the journey and allows passengers to book tickets on a first-come-first-served basis, again increasing the likelihood of securing a confirmed ticket. However, neither scheme provides a 100% guarantee.
