A tractor-trolley collided with the Lichchhavi Express in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the death of the tractor driver. The train was halted for an hour. On July 19th, a goods train derailed in Gujarat's Valsad, affecting traffic on the main line. The train was re-railed and traffic resumed after a track fit certificate was issued. The incident occurred inside the Dungri station yard and did not affect the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. On July 18th, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express derailed near Gonda station, resulting in three deaths and 30 injuries.

Various improvements have been made to the division, including the expansion of platform number one at Katras station and the extension of the foot-over bridge at Gomoh station. A new alternative line is under construction for the DC line, starting from Gaya police outer in Dhanbad and reaching Telo via Matari, which will help eliminate the need to change engines at Gomoh for trains going to Chandrapura. To increase train speed, thick-web switches have been installed at eight locations, enabling trains to run at 160 km/h. These locations are Khalari, Barkakana, Bhandaridih, Chopan, Mirchadhuri, Phusro, Rey, and Ranaghat stations. In anticipation of the upcoming Shravani Mela, the Dhanbad Rail Division has requested a special train from Dhanbad to Sultanagunj. A request for a train for Chhath has also been submitted, including a special train from Dhanbad to Sitamarhi and Gorakhpur.
