This is the first Vande Bharat Express train for the Kalyana Karnataka region, fulfilling a long-standing demand for a direct train service between these cities. The demand for the route was highlighted by BJP MP Umesh Jadhav, who cited RTI data showing an average of 3,262 tickets booked daily from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi and 2,100 in the reverse direction in 2022-2023. However, previous train services like the Basava Express and Solapur-Hassan Express were facing overcrowding and inadequate seat allocations for Kalaburagi passengers, leading to inconvenience. The new Vande Bharat Express aims to address these issues and provide a more efficient travel option.

Unhone airport line se suburban route ko connect karne aur intermediate stations pe stoppages badhane ki jarurat par zor diya hai. SWR ne December 11, 2023 se Devanahalli se Chikkaballapur tak 6 train services start kar di hain. Iske alawa, Bengaluru Cantonment- Baiyappanahalli (13.20 km) aur Baiyappanahalli se Whitefield (24.69 km) ke beech quadrupling ka kaam chal raha hai, aur yeh December 2024 tak complete hone ki ummed hai.
