I,alongwith my 5 friends boarded Goa Express from Pune to Castle Rock for Doodhsagar waterfalls. Seats were confirmed as most of this train empties in Pune. We enjoyed the travel experience, especially the Adarki curve and Shidawane ghat section. The train was pretty impressive on punctuality, but it let down in catering. Food was overpriced, not cooked well. I visited pantry car, to my surprise, I saw almost 20-30 rats over there. I asked the manager who inturn blamed the owner of the contract.
Well, we managed somehow with snacks and local food vendors at Miraj.
Train...
more... reached 5mins earlier at CLR. It was a dark foggy night. At castle rock (platform)we all had vegetable biryani which was hot and very delicious. It was @40rs per plate. As we were 6 of us we started to move towards Doodhsagar. It was during August 2013. There was entire darkness, with mist around us blocking long distance visibility. We had prepared for the travel, as we had torches along with us. A strange whistle of a bird from the forest around was adding to the adventure.
We witnessed many small waterfalls and off course many trains, especially goods train. It was thrill to tratrainhrough tunnels and bridges. We had left CLR at around 0430 AM and reached Doodhsagar falls at around 10 am. The 13 Km trek was awesome and thrilling.
Later we boarded a train (18047) and reached Kulem, another peaceful little village in South Goa.
We took general tickets till pune and boarded Goa express. We got seat in general coaches from Londa Jn.
The train reached Pune at its scheduled time and this marked the end of our adventurous tour.
A signal(in the pic) while we were walking to Doodhsagar confused all of us.If anyone could explain that; would be appreciated.
P.S.- Now, no one is allowed to go along the tracks till Doodhsagar. You can reach there by road form Kulem.
