A set of videos from a small train spotting session at Innanje Railway station on Independence day 15th August, 2015. Innanje, located south of Udupi Railway station is situated between thick forest and i call it "Haunted" because it is dark here and not a single soul. The route to this place also is scary and in monsoon this it gives a haunted look to the station premises. But yes, this place does give a wonderful MPS action and is a place to be especially in monsoon. Few trains spotted that day are as follows :

RO-RO service from Konkan Railway passing Udyavara River at dawn!
RO-RO action at dawn is always exciting stuff to capture! Seen here is loaded RO-RO truck carrier from Suratkal on its way to Kolad behind a Kalyan based WDG4 locomotive passing the Udyavara river near Udupi, Konkan Railway.. **** About RO-RO service ***
RORO means Roll-on/roll-off, where loaded trucks are directly carried by railway wagons to their destination. Konkan Railways passes through tough terrains of India. There is NH-17 passing through same route. Truck drivers find it extremely difficult to drive loaded trucks...

through ghats, undulating surfaces, narrow roads and poor road and weather conditions. The KRC came with concept of RORO, where loaded trucks are moved on wagons and are travelled by train. This has helped in saving of fuels, decrease in wear and tear of lorries (trucks), relief to drivers of driving in extreme conditions, can reach faster to destination. This also helps in decongestion of roads and lowering of pollution. This concept has been beneficial for both truck operators and KRCL. Presently the service is offered by Konkan Railway between Suratkal-Kolad, Kolad-Verna and Verna-Suratkal route respectively.

Seen here is the train connecting two major cities Mumbai and Thiruvantapuram, LTT KCVL Garib Rath smashing past a scenic and haunted Innanje halt station. I call it scenic because from the hill top, one can get a beautiful birds eye view of the forest and nearby surroundings. Also it is haunted because not a single soul can be seen at this station, which certainly makes it haunted when it is dark. A fired up Ernakulam Alco chugging and smoking merrily as it rushes towards its next halt at Mangalore.

A short trip report:
It was a clear monsoon morning. 5:30 a.m. and it was already quite bright outside. I pulled up the Konkan Railway train position site and had a look at different trains heading down towards Mangalore. All were running pretty much on time. It's 6:20 a.m. as I left home for Mangalore Junction station. 6:25 a.m., I was walking across the foot overbridge after buying a ticket to Udupi. The Passenger to Madgaon was expected to arrive shortly and as usual, there were many passengers waiting to board the train. 6:36 a.m., the passenger arrives and a ERS WDM3A is the power. for quite a long time since a freight has left Thokur towards SWR. Meanwhile, the star of the day, 11098 Purna Express arrives from Ernakulam on Platform #1. Why is it being referred to as the star? That's because it's being powered by an offlink KJM WDP4! Soon, our train departs and enters Konkan Railway. No crossings enroute and the train arrives at Innanje on time. I get off here and wait for another railfan, Mr.Sumath from Udupi to arrive on his bike. The station is located in the middle of a dense jungle inhabited by Leopards. I'm the lone human out there along with a few different birds chirping their hearts out after the train leaves. 15 minutes pass by and I hear the sound of a bike's engine. I know it's Sumanth. At the same time, a honk is heard at a distance. I hurry towards one end of the station and take position. Meanwhile, the other railfan has also reached the station. I signal him to take position as well. Soon, the WDP4 monster thunders past my camera with the Poorna Express, a couple of hello toots are also exchanged....
