The Punalur station, included in the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, will be modernized with waiting areas, platform roofs, lifts, car parks, and facilities for the differently abled. The demand for a Tirupati train service via Punalur-Sengottai is under consideration. Meanwhile, Kundara station, part of the Adarsh station scheme, has completed works including a platform walkway, platform height increase, washrooms, seating, circulating area renovation, and facilities for the differently abled. The electrification of the Kollam-Sengottai stretch is expected soon, with the 110 KV substation at Sengottai already operational. Vistadome coaches are planned after electrification and the switch to LHB coaches.

Jaise hi electric engine trains chalna shuru hoti hain, zyada MEMU services bhi start ki ja sakti hain. Zyada services shuru hone ke saath, Punalur station pe platforms ki number badhane par vichar kiya jaayega.
